STUDY OF BODE INDEX AS A PREDICTOR OF SEVERITY AND SYSTEMIC INVOLVEMENT IN PATIENTS WITH COPD

Introduction:Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is defined as a that both preventable and treatable, with some significant extrapulmonary consequences. This study emphasizes the fact BODE index can be used to predict hospitalization severity of systemic involvement in COPD patients. Materials Methods:The present cross-sectional was conducted at KarapagaVinayaga Medical College, Chengalpattu, over period 10 months from March 2021 November 2021, after due approval ethical committee. A total 120 patients aged 40 75 years were recruited by purposive sampling. Patients symptoms suggestive cases included. Clinical examination investigation like spirometry, ECG, 2D echo, chest X-ray BMI also recorded. Data analysed using SPSS version 19.0. Results:A participated this study. There wasa 80 (66.6%) males (33.3%) females among participants. The mean age population 57.8 years. score significantly associated smoking status, number packyears smoking, BMI, duration hospital stay last two years.ECG axis found normal mild groups. While 96% patientsin severe group are RAD 40% had LAD.
